Did anyone hear about the search party they're organizing this weekend for Austin Coffey? Someone mentioned it on Facebook, but I can't find any other details. I think it's great that locals are stepping up like this, especially given how tricky some of those areas in Roan Mountain can be. It sounds like they're trying to cover as much ground as possible before the weather starts getting colder. If anyone knows who to contact to join the search or has more details on meeting points, please share. It's important we keep the momentum going.
I can't stop thinking about the challenging terrain in the Hampton Creek area where Austin was last seen. For those who aren't familiar with it, Roan Mountain's remote regions can be pretty unforgiving, especially for someone who's unfamiliar with hiking or rough terrains. Has anyone heard if search teams are using drones or specialized equipment to scan places that are hard to access on foot? I know it's tough, but I'm hoping they can thoroughly check those hidden spots only local wildlife usually ventures into. Given the rugged landscape, every tool could make a huge difference in this search. Anyone nearby notice more activity or efforts on the ground lately?
Does anyone here have updates on the search parties for Austin Coffey? I've been following his case pretty closely, and I'm curious about how the community efforts are going. I heard about some volunteers joining the search, and I'm wondering if they've covered all the trails in the Hampton Creek area yet? Given how vast and rugged that terrain is, it must be really challenging. If anyone is local or has participated in the searches, I'd love to hear more about what's been happening on the ground and if there’s anything more that people outside the immediate community can do to support. It's inspiring to see so many people coming together, and I hope some new leads turn up soon.
