In thinking about DeShawn Dupree King's tragic passing, I'm struck by how much potential was lost that night. Just 18 years old, DeShawn had his whole life ahead of him, and it's devastating to think about the future he was robbed of. I've been following this case since it happened and still can't wrap my head around how something so violent and senseless could have happened in our community. What haunts me are those two people seen running from the scene. I often wonder if there’s someone out there who knows them, or maybe even saw them in the days following that tragic night. It's times like these when the power of a community really comes into play. If only someone with information would find the courage to step up and speak out. DeShawn deserves that. His family deserves that. Knoxville isn't just a place on the map—it's home to so many of us, and I firmly believe that if someone has even the smallest piece of information, it could make a difference. I hope justice finds its way to DeShawn's family and that they can find some peace knowing that the person or people responsible are held accountable.
