I was reading up on Darryl Banks’ case again, and it’s so troubling to think about the fear he must have experienced in those last moments. I can’t imagine how his family and friends are coping with such a horrific loss. What's making me uneasy is the neighborhood aspect—how even your own home, the place you should feel safest, was the scene of something so horrible. The combination of robbery and violence in this case underscores a disturbing trend that's been affecting certain areas of Memphis for a while now. I really hope the community can heal and come together to support each other, especially those who knew and loved Darryl. It’s times like these when the role of community in crime prevention and justice feels more important than ever. My thoughts are with his loved ones as they continue to process everything.
