I recently came across the case of Tilessa Cain and it got me thinking about the role that community support plays in addressing domestic violence. It's so sad to learn that her tragic story is just one of many in Memphis during that tumultuous year. While Joshua Fisher was apprehended and justice was served in his conviction, I can't help but wonder if more could have been done earlier to change this narrative. With a history of domestic violence over nearly a decade, was there enough outreach or support available for Tilessa and those like her? It feels like there needs to be more emphasis on community programs and support networks to catch these signs early and potentially save lives. My heart goes out to Tilessa’s loved ones—I can’t imagine the pain of losing someone in such a violent way. Hoping more awareness can foster change and put more preventative measures in place.
