Has anyone looked into the possibility that the car Kelly described in her last call was a rental? I was thinking that maybe the reason it's been so hard to trace the car is that it could have been rented under a false name or stolen around that time. If it was a rental, records from agencies in that area from 1982 might offer some leads. I just wonder if this angle has been thoroughly explored or if it's gotten lost over the years. With a case this old, every little detail could be the key to finally understanding what happened that night. Anyone else have thoughts on this or know if investigators have considered it?
I’ve been reading about Kelly Bergh Dove's disappearance and something that stands out to me is the timeline of those phone calls. It shows how quickly things escalated for her. Kelly made three calls to the police in just under five minutes, which to me indicates she was really panicking, feeling threatened. It's tragic that even with such a short response time—just two minutes!—the police found an empty gas station. I've read in some cases, abductions happen that fast, but it’s still hard to wrap my head around how someone could vanish so quickly without leaving any trace behind.
What do you all think about the vehicle she described? I wonder how thoroughly all possible leads on that were chased down at the time. A silver or gray car like she said is kind of generic, but maybe someone out there saw something that didn't make it into the reports. Wishing peace for Kelly’s family, and hoping ongoing public interest might bring new information to light someday. ?
