I've been following Jacquelin Garrett's case, and I can't help but think about how times were so tough back in 2007 for anyone living in certain parts of Philly. It's just haunting to consider the fear people must have felt with the crime rates so high, especially when it came to gun violence. It's really unsettling to think that community members like Jacquelin were dealing with these threats daily.
Recently, I came across some discussions about how crucial it was for the city to implement community-based approaches to tackle this violence. It's clear that people wanted more than just increased police presence; there was a need for real systemic change. Has anyone here seen progress in those areas? I know it's been a while, but I wonder how much headway has been made in terms of community support and addressing underlying issues like poverty.
My heart goes out to Jacquelin's family and others who lost loved ones during that time. It must be extremely difficult to see the slow pace of change when these matters are so urgent.
