Hey everyone,
I've been following the discussion on Michael Wright's case and wanted to chime in with something that's been on my mind. It's truly upsetting to see how Michael's death is a reflection of a larger crisis that was happening back in '07 in Pittsburgh. During that time, violence seemed to touch every corner of the city, and for young African American men like Michael, it was a constant threat.
What gets me is how these events represent not just isolated tragedies but part of a broader systemic issue. It's infuriating to think about the circumstances that repeatedly placed these young men in harm's way. I wish more attention had been given back then to addressing these root causes instead of just reacting to the violence.
My heart goes out to Michael's family and friends who must have dealt not only with his loss but with the realization of these broader injustices. It must be exhausting to see someone you love become another statistic in a broken system.
How do you all think we can honor Michael's memory while also pushing for real change to prevent future tragedies like his?
Stay safe, everyone.
