I’ve been following Rasheem Roberts’ case, and it just hits hard thinking about his friends and family who are left in limbo, waiting for answers that never seem to come. It’s incredibly frustrating to see how many young lives, like Rasheem's, have been snuffed out without justice. The sheer number of unsolved cases from 2007 really highlights the kind of challenges that were, and still are, rampant in communities like Philadelphia. What sticks with me most is the silence that seems to envelop this case. In communities where trust in law enforcement is shaky, it feels like leads dry up almost as soon as they surface. How do we create an environment where witnesses feel safe enough to come forward? It feels like unless people feel protected, Rasheem’s story might stay untold. I dearly hope those who knew him, and loved him, find peace and that one day, justice will come knocking.
