I’ve been following Christina Carol Burnett-Pitts’ case for a while, and one thing that constantly baffles me is the delay in reporting her missing. It's so troubling that no one officially reported her disappearance until 2002, a full four years after she was last seen. I can somewhat understand her transient lifestyle and tendency to disappear for stretches, but four years? That's such a long time for no concrete questions to be asked or leads to be gathered. It just makes me wonder about her family dynamics and community connections—or lack thereof—at that time. Did they truly believe she might just walk back into their lives at any moment? I feel like this gap could have caused investigators to lose out on crucial early evidence that might have otherwise solved her case. Has anyone else seen similar situations in other cases where the reporting delay ended up being a significant hurdle in solving it?
