Does anyone else find it odd how quickly the friend gave up searching for Paul Head? Like, what kind of friend just leaves after a brief look around when someone runs off into the woods in the dead of night? Especially since they were camping in a pretty remote area. I get that the friend might have assumed Paul would come back, but it still seems a bit off. I wonder if there’s more to the story about that night at Dinky Creek. Could the friend have known something he didn't disclose to authorities? Just throwing thoughts out there, but it’s been nagging at me. If anyone has more insight on what their relationship was like, I’d be curious to know.
Has anyone else looked into the weather conditions at the time Paul Matthew Head disappeared? I was browsing old weather reports from September 1999 around the Sierra National Forest area, and it seems like the temperatures at night were quite chilly, typical for that time of year. I wonder if hypothermia could have played a role when he ran off wearing just a sweatshirt and underwear. It's baffling how he managed to vanish without a trace despite all the search efforts. With the challenging terrain and the weather, it seems like it would have been really tough for him to navigate, especially if he was in an altered state of mind. Just throwing this out there to see if anyone has thought about this angle before or if I missed any discussions on this aspect of the case.
Has anyone looked into whether Paul Head might have been experiencing some kind of mental episode during that camping trip? The description of him suddenly running off into the woods in just his underwear and a sweatshirt seems really out of character for someone described as even-tempered. I’m wondering if the mix of alcohol and marijuana might have interacted with some underlying issue, causing him to act in such an erratic way. Maybe he was overwhelmed or scared by something not immediately obvious to others. Also, it's puzzling that this happened at Dinky Creek, an area that if I recall, doesn’t have a huge amount of foot traffic, making it more difficult for a search to be effective. Was he known to have any history that might support this theory?
