Hi everyone,
I've been following the discussions about Deon Smith, and I can't help but think about the impact of community mistrust on these unsolved cases. It seems like so many families are left without answers, and it's incredibly frustrating. I totally get the fear and hesitation that people might feel about coming forward, especially given the environment some residents find themselves in. It’s a vicious cycle where silence fuels more crime, and crime fuels more silence. I really wish there were more initiatives focusing on rebuilding trust between the community and law enforcement. Surely, there must be ways to safely report what people might know?
Anyway, my heart truly goes out to Deon's family and friends. I hope that through efforts in bridging this gap, there can eventually be justice and peace for them. Would love to hear more thoughts or ideas about what can be done to make people feel safer in speaking up.
