I’ve been thinking a lot about Vernon Wilson's case, especially the location where his body was found. The 800 block of East Chelten Avenue has had a troubled history with violence, which makes me wonder about the neighborhood’s conditions back in 2010 and if there were any initiatives to improve safety after Vernon's death. The community environment can play such a huge role in these tragic events. Were there any local leaders or activists who stepped up to address these issues back then? My heart goes out to Vernon's family and the entire neighborhood that has been affected by this ongoing cycle of violence. It’s just devastating to think about all the lives touched by a single act of senseless violence. If anyone has more insight into how the community responded or tried to heal after this loss, I’d love to hear it.
