Hey everyone, I came across Jamaal Nelson's case from 2010 while doing some research on the impact of gun violence in Philadelphia, and something that really struck me was the concentration of these crimes in particular areas, like the 22nd Police District. It really puts into perspective how localized this issue is and how certain neighborhoods, like Logan where Jamaal was killed, bear a disproportionate burden. I can’t help but think about the residents who lived there back then and still live there now, constantly worried about their safety and whether their loved ones will make it home. It must be incredibly difficult to feel a sense of security with these statistics looming over so many neighborhoods. I'm curious if anyone who lived in Logan around that time remembers the community response or any efforts that were taken to address these problems? It seems like there would have been a lot of frustration and fear, but also perhaps some hope to change things. Would love to hear more insights or stories from those who were around at the time.
