Does anyone have more details about the search area for Charles Duane Gustafson? I'm trying to understand better why the search efforts might have struggled. I've read that the Medicine Bow National Forest is vast and rugged, but were there any particular zones that were too difficult to search because of the terrain or weather conditions? Also, how do the search dogs handle such environments and weather? It seems like they usually track scents really well, but I wonder if the snow and cold temperatures affected their search effectiveness in Charles' case. Any insights or similar experiences would be appreciated!

Does anyone else find it odd that no trace of Gustafson was ever found, despite the extensive search efforts and the fact that he had a GPS with him? I know hunting accidents and getting lost can happen, but with his Air Force survival training and all the gear he had, you'd think there would be at least some sign of him. It's almost like he vanished into thin air. Also, the three shots being fired back after his family sent out a signal is peculiar—someone or something responded, yet nothing came of it. It's almost as if there's more to the story that hasn't come to light. Any theories on what could have happened out there in the wild?
