I’ve been following Janet Gould DeFelice’s case and something that really puzzles me is the discovery of her purse two years after she disappeared. It was found just a quarter mile from her son’s home, under a bush. This kind of throws me off. If she had left voluntarily, would she have just dropped it there, or did someone else place it? Also, considering she was unhappy with the move and wanted to return to Costa Mesa, I wonder if she could have attempted to find her way back somehow. I find it strange no other evidence was found in the area. Could something have spooked her into leaving that purse behind? And why wasn’t any trace found later? I hope they’re still actively investigating any leads because this one just seems like there’s something missing. Would love to hear others' thoughts on this.
Has anyone else thought about the location where Janet's purse was found? It's been a major puzzle for me ever since I read about it. A quarter mile from her son's home isn't super far, but that area was thoroughly searched. It makes me wonder how it went unnoticed for so long. Did someone place it there later, or could it somehow have been overlooked initially? Also, it's strange that nothing else surfaced around that area. Just a purse, nothing else. Could it be that she met someone she trusted and handed her belongings over voluntarily? Any locals familiar with the spot where the purse was found? I've been trying to figure out if it’s a place someone might choose to walk to, especially considering her daily routine.
