Hey everyone, I came across a name while reading about unsolved homicides in Philly and felt compelled to share. Rolando Almonte was just 23 when he lost his life in November 2011. It seems his case is part of a larger trend that year where gun violence was rampant, and it's devastating to think about his family still waiting for answers. What really struck me is how cases like his often fade into the background, overshadowed by statistics. But thanks to efforts by organizations like the Philadelphia Obituary Project, we get to see the person behind the name. These projects do such important work giving a voice to victims who otherwise might be forgotten. If anyone has any thoughts or if you've heard anything about steps that local groups or the community might be taking to push for more resolutions in these cases, I’d love to hear it. It's incredibly sad to think of so many families like Rolando's still left in the dark. Let's keep discussing and raising awareness – every bit counts.
