I’ve been thinking a lot about the eerie circumstances surrounding Guy Heckle’s disappearance, especially the whole situation with his blue nylon parka. If you’re familiar with what happened, you'd know that it was found snagged on a log near the Cedar River. What’s always puzzled me is how just the parka was found and nothing else. It makes me wonder if whatever happened to Guy, whether an unfortunate accident or something more nefarious, occurred shortly after he was last seen. Especially when considering they were playing Capture the Flag—a game that typically involves running around in difficult terrain—it’s conceivable he could have fallen, and the parka was somehow left behind. Or, dare I say, the parka could have been placed there deliberately by someone else. It’s chilling that it was the only trace left and that it led to decades of unanswered questions. If anyone’s got thoughts on the parka or any similar instances in missing persons cases, I’d love to hear what you think.
