I've been thinking a lot about Savon Traub lately and how much his loss impacted his community, especially his school. I can't even imagine what it must’ve been like for his classmates during what should've been such an exciting time with prom and all the end-of-year celebrations. Instead, they were thrust into mourning a dear friend. The people I've spoken with mentioned how vibrant and full of potential Savon was, and how everything changed in an instant. It's deeply unsettling that no suspects have ever been identified. There seems to be this pattern where so many promising young lives are taken, and families are left without answers. It makes you wonder how we can better support these communities grappling with such violence and loss. I hope that by keeping conversations about Savon and others like him alive, we can push for changes that might prevent future tragedies. Sending love to his family and all who loved him—you’re not alone, and people are still thinking about Savon.
