I've been digging into the disappearance of Charles Christopher Francis, and something that caught my attention is the timeline. Dennis, his father, left him on the corner of Chestnut Avenue and Lyon Street for just ten minutes. In those short moments, Charles vanished without a trace. Has anyone looked into who might have been in the vicinity at that time? It seems like such a crowded and public place, did any witnesses ever come forward? Were there any businesses with outdoor cameras in 1979, or was the area secluded enough back then that no one saw anything?
Also, I've been wondering about the ongoing custody dispute. It seems to be an odd thing to take Charles from Colorado to California amidst such a contentious situation. Did investigators ever look deeper into whether this had anything to do with his disappearance? I'm trying to understand if the custody battle might have clouded the early investigation or led to any missed opportunities. Would love to hear others' thoughts on this aspect and the timeline!
Anyone else think it's totally bizarre that we haven't heard more about the truck Dennis was using on the day Charles disappeared? I’ve read about the water tank delivery route, but no mentions of any eyewitnesses or CCTV footage from the area around Chestnut Avenue and Lyon Street. It's tough to figure out why there’s so little info on what the surroundings looked like then. Given that Charles was left alone for such a short amount of time, you'd think there'd be at least one person who saw something, even if it was just a regular delivery. Maybe someone remembers the truck or saw something odd and didn't realize its significance at the time? With Crummel being a suspect, it feels like every detail counts, and I'm surprised there hasn't been more focus on possible sightings or vehicles present at the scene.
I recently came across Charles Christopher Francis' case, and something stood out to me. I was reading about how serial offenders are often linked to unsolved cases due to patterns, and I'm curious if anyone here knows more about James Crummel? I mean, his presence in Santa Ana at the time and his link to other missing kids can't just be a coincidence, right? Also, is there any info out there about how Crummel's typical "method of operation" aligns with Charles' disappearance? I find it puzzling that despite being a prime suspect, no concrete connection was ever established. Would love to hear thoughts or any additional insights from the community!
