Has anyone else looked into the weather records from late April to early May 1980 around St. Ignatius? I can't help but think that the severe weather during those critical days might have played a significant role in the lack of evidence. I read somewhere that heavy rain and snow can really complicate search efforts, possibly washing away tracks or traces. It's frustrating to think that crucial evidence could've been affected by the elements. Also, do we know if the search teams at the time had any technology or methods to counteract what the weather could've done to the scene? It seems like every small detail matters in cases like this, and understanding the conditions could give some perspective on the challenges faced back then. ?️‍♀️?️
Hey everyone,
I’ve been doing some digging into Megan Ginevicz’s case from 1980, and something that's been intriguing is the role of the weather during the initial search period. I mean, it's easy to overlook how much of a factor this could've been, but think about it—ten days of rain and snow really could have obscured any evidence. It’s no wonder that they couldn’t find any trace of her.
The thought of footprints or items being washed away or covered up presents a challenging scenario for the search parties. I’m curious to know if anyone has more insight into how weather impacts these kinds of searches, especially in rural areas like St. Ignatius where the terrain itself could already be quite demanding. Maybe even someone familiar with Montana's search and rescue operations from back in the day could chime in? Thanks!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts,
Jenna
Has anyone looked into the wildlife reports around St. Ignatius around the time of Megan's disappearance? I know it might sound like a stretch, but sometimes small details can shed light on a cold case. I’ve been researching wildlife activity in that area around April 1980 just to see if maybe there were any unusual animal sightings or attacks reported. I haven’t found much so far, but it struck me as odd that despite the bad weather, there's not more discussion about animal encounters. I feel like this could be an element that needs more focus, considering the area’s known for wildlife. Anyone have thoughts or information on this?
