Hi everyone, I recently read more about the tragic case of Antwann Smith, and one detail that really stuck with me is the role that music played in the events leading up to his death. It's haunting to think that a song he wrote became a catalyst for such violence. Music is supposed to be a form of expression and connection, yet in Antwann's case, it was part of a cycle that escalated into something horrific. For those who knew him, they described Antwann as someone who had dreams and ambitions. As much as this case is about justice, it's also a stark reminder of how important it is to address the underlying causes of violence in communities. Antwann's story should be a call for more support and resources, especially for young people who are trying to find their way in environments where violence feels like the only constant. I have a lot of respect for his grandmother, Carol, and the strength she's shown in the face of all this. Nobody should have to go through the loss and heartbreak that she and her family have faced. They deserve answers and peace, and I hope that, one day, they'll find it. Until then, let's keep this conversation going, and maybe, just maybe, someone who knows something will come forward. Sending support and strength to all those affected. ?️

I’ve been following Antwann Smith’s case, and I can’t help but feel immensely sad for his family, especially his grandmother, Carol Speaks. Imagine the courage it takes to continuously push for justice when the odds seem stacked against them. I read about one of the vigils they held, which heartbreakingly was disrupted by gunfire. It’s so unjust that even these moments of remembrance and peace are overshadowed by violence. This culture of silence surrounding Antwann’s case is truly concerning, but it’s understandable considering the fear of repercussions. What’s happening in Homewood reflects a broader issue of inequality and mistrust. It’s shocking to compare it to Pittsburgh's wealthier neighborhoods where incidents like this are unheard of. I hope someday those who know what happened will find the strength to speak up so that Carol and Antwann’s family can finally find some measure of peace. It's possible to turn the tide with enough community support, and perhaps more people will come forward if they see others leading the way. These cycles have got to stop, and it begins with justice for victims like Antwann.

Has anyone else been following the annual vigils held in memory of Antwann Smith? I've been reading up on how his family comes together in Homewood each year to commemorate his life and keep the push for justice alive. It must be incredibly tough for his grandmother, Carol Speaks, and the whole family to face the same harsh reality year after year without any closure. What really struck me is how even these gatherings—a time meant for reflection and unity—can't escape the threat of violence, like the time gunfire broke out during one of the vigils. It’s heartbreaking to think that even events meant to honor a loved one and call for peace aren't safe from the cycle of violence. This community really deserves better support and protection. Sending all my thoughts to Antwann’s family and those who’ve lost loved ones to similar tragedies.
