Has anyone else thought about the significance of Madeline's purse, keys, and car being left behind? This detail has always bugged me. If she walked off willingly or knew the person who came into the store, why wouldn't she at least take her purse with her? It’s almost as if whoever was involved wanted it to seem like she left on her own and then quickly took her. It’s unsettling how fast things must have happened for a customer to find the place empty just minutes after her mother left. It makes me wonder if someone was possibly watching the store, waiting for the right moment. Has anyone ever mentioned if there were any suspicious vehicles spotted in the area that night? That might have been one of the many things overlooked due to limited resources back then.
