I was going through some old missing persons cases and came across Christopher and Lisa Zaharias. Can't believe it's been so long, and there's still no solid info on their whereabouts. One detail that caught my attention was the mention of a black 1986 Toyota 4-Runner. If the vehicle was sighted back then, it might have been registered under a new name since. Could they have changed the plates after all these years? Has anyone checked if this vehicle has popped up in any recent databases, either on the West Coast or elsewhere? Curious if there's been any news about it and if the authorities are still using this lead. Thoughts?
I’ve been following the Zaharias case for quite some time, and something's been bothering me about the sightings in Detroit, Michigan back in 1988. Why was there no follow-up news or details after those initial reports? If they were confirmed, or even just credible, why didn’t it lead anywhere? It seems like such a significant piece of the puzzle. Did the trail just go completely cold, or is there more to the story that we might not know? If Susan had connections in Detroit, that might explain why she would take such a risk to bring the kids there. I wonder if the fact that she might have had support in different states made it easier for them to remain hidden. Does anyone have more insight on this? It feels like this aspect hasn’t been explored enough and could lead somewhere useful.
I keep thinking about the possibility that Susan had help from family members. If she was struggling with substance abuse, it’s hard to imagine she did all this alone, especially while on the run with two young children. I mean, there’s a lot of logistics involved - housing, food, transportation, staying under the radar. Family might have even helped financially or provided updates to keep their location hidden. It would be interesting to know more about Susan’s family ties back then and whether they were ever questioned or investigated. Anyone have insights into that aspect? It feels like getting more info on who might have aided her could crack this case wide open.
