I was digging into some old unsolved cases in Portland and came across Vernon Richard Anton's murder from December 1977. What really piqued my interest was the fact that Anton was a musician. Portland has always had a vibrant music scene, and I wonder if any of his connections within that community might have seen or heard something pertinent back then. Being a musician myself, I know how close-knit and yet sometimes insular music circles can be. It’s striking that someone who seemed well-liked and didn’t have any known enemies could fall victim in such a violent way. I can’t help but think there must be someone out there with a piece of the puzzle, even all these years later. It would be great if anyone with memories or stories about Anton from back in the day could come forward. My thoughts go out to his family and friends who never got the closure they deserved.
