It's been nearly 40 years since Matthew Garnes went missing, and I'm still baffled by the disappearance of his car. You'd think a gold Plymouth Duster would stick out like a sore thumb, especially with those unique Washington plates, but it's like it vanished alongside him. Did anyone else find it odd that no one reported seeing the car on the route between Tacoma and Portland? It seems like a big piece of the puzzle that might've been overlooked. If anyone was living in that area back in '84, do you remember seeing anything around that time? It's a long shot, but perhaps someone has a sliver of information that could finally bring the Garnes family some answers.
I’ve been digging into Matthew Garnes' disappearance, and something just doesn’t sit right with me about the car. That 1974 Plymouth Duster wasn’t exactly inconspicuous, right? A gold classic car would stand out, especially with those Washington plates. It’s puzzling there were no sightings or tips about it. It makes me wonder if the car was abandoned somewhere out of sight, or if it was somehow altered to avoid detection. Classic cars can take on a new look pretty easily with the right changes. Does anyone know if there were any efforts back then to look into local garages or body shops that might've been approached to paint or modify it? Also, if the car was stripped for parts, wouldn’t those have been easier to track, given the uniqueness of the model? The idea of both Matthew and the Duster vanishing without a trace after all these years just doesn’t add up for me. I'm curious what others think about the car aspect of the case.
