Does anyone else find it odd that Bennie Washington Jr.’s dental records were secured but no DNA samples were ever collected for his case? I find it strange considering how powerful DNA profiling has become in solving old cases. Maybe back in the 80s it wasn't as common practice, but couldn't they attempt to collect DNA samples from his family now? Or at least see if there's anything they missed from his belongings that could help now? I’m just baffled by how such a basic but potentially significant step was never taken, especially considering his family has been left in the dark for so long. Anyone have thoughts on this or maybe know of any similar cases?

Hey everyone, I've been looking into Bennie Washington Jr.'s case and something that really stands out to me is the detail about his wedding ring. A thick gold wedding ring isn't exactly a subtle piece of jewelry. It seems strange that none of the reports mention it being found or showing up anywhere. Often, in these kinds of cases, personal items like jewelry can resurface and provide leads. Has anyone found information or theories about it being stolen or pawned off? It could have been a significant clue if looked into early on. Perhaps the focus was too much on other aspects and the ring's significance got overlooked. What do you all think—could this be a missed opportunity?

Has anyone else noticed how often we hear about dental records being available, but then no DNA is collected? In Bennie Washington Jr.'s case, that's precisely the situation. It's baffling, especially considering how much DNA technology has advanced since the 80s. You'd think they'd have prioritized this, given how long he's been missing. Maybe they can gather some of his belongings for DNA? It makes me wonder how many other cold cases are in a similar spot due to overlooked DNA collection. DNA can sometimes be the key to reinvigorating investigations, so it feels like a missed opportunity. Any insight on why this might be left out of an investigation?
