Has anyone else looked into the details about the radio found on Virgil's skiff? It's intriguing to me that a high-powered rifle and two life jackets were also left behind. Why would someone need a radio if they were planning to head back shortly? It's possible he intended to keep in touch with Nick while exploring solo. But it makes me wonder, did Virgil try to make any last-minute contact before vanishing? Was the radio even functional? This might be a tiny piece of the puzzle that could shed some light if we can figure out the circumstances around it. Would love to know if anyone has dug into this or has theories on it.
Just finished reading about Virgil's case, and something that stands out to me is the series of anonymous phone calls made between October 1986 and January 1987. The woman with a Tlingit accent mentioned a boy named "Wade," claiming he was first well but later "not doing well." I find this detail especially intriguing. Could this have been a misguided tip pointing to Virgil, or was it a hoax altogether? Also, it raises the question about the name "Wade." Could it have been a misheard version of "Virgil"? There are so many layers here. I wonder if Nick ever mentioned knowing anyone named Wade before or if this could point to something completely unrelated. What do you guys think about the possibility of these calls being connected to Virgil's case?
