Has anyone else been going down the rabbit hole on the Marlena Childress case? I recently stumbled across something curious while reviewing old news articles. Back when Marlena disappeared, there was mention of a man in an older red car with Kentucky plates seen talking to her. What baffles me is how this lead seemed to hit a dead end so fast. Kentucky borders Tennessee, so why wasn't there more cross-state collaboration to track more info on the car and driver? I get that vehicle records from the '80s can be a nightmare to sift through, but couldn't there have been a more sustained effort?
I wonder if anyone else thinks this lead was brushed aside too quickly, especially considering Marlena's mom’s confusing and conflicting stories—you’d think more pressure would have been placed on identifying this man as part of unraveling the truth. Was it just a wild goose chase, or did authorities simply let a potential key witness slip away? Thoughts?
