Hey everyone, I came across Leonard "Lenny" Collins' case while digging through some old newspaper articles. What caught my attention was the mention of a meeting he had with another trucker before he disappeared. It's been bothering me: who was this mystery trucker?
Back in '87, records, especially for smaller trucking companies, weren't as digitized or easily accessible as they are today. Could this have been an unofficial gig or someone working under the radar? If Lenny was supposed to be involved with a big company, surely there'd be some trace, right?
I'm just curious if there's anyone here who's familiar with trucking from that time period. Was it common for jobs to be discussed in such vague ways or for there to be less concrete details about hiring? Learning more about the industry norms back then might help shed some light on why Lenny’s meeting remains such an enigma.
If you have any insights or if there's a direction I could dig into, please share!
Hey everyone, I was diving into the Leonard James Collins case and came across something curious. In the police reports, it said he was last seen wearing navy blue sneakers, which doesn't seem like much. But I've heard somewhere that truckers, especially those working long hauls, often had specific brands they preferred for comfort and durability. Could the brand of his sneakers have been a clue to where he might've shopped, or if anyone else remembers seeing him that day? I know it's a bit of a stretch, but sometimes the smallest details provide the biggest breakthroughs. Anyone else know more about this or think it's worth looking into?
Does anyone have any more information on the other trucker that Lenny was supposed to meet that day? It seems odd that there’s no record of this person or the trucking company he was supposedly going to work for. In cases like this, you'd think there'd be more details or someone else in the trucking community who might remember hearing about a job opening around that time. Maybe someone in the West Palm Beach or trucking circles from back then can recall a new face looking for work? It just doesn’t add up that someone could vanish with so few leads and no one else stepping forward with more information after all these years.
