I’ve been following Jefferson Brian Arms' case for a while and something that's puzzling to me is the condition of their boat when it was found. I’m no expert, but I do a lot of sailing on weekends and I know those Sunfish sailboats can be tricky in rough waters. But the fact that Jefferson’s life jacket was found separately raises questions. Makes me wonder about the water currents in that stretch of Lake Champlain—has anyone looked into how objects tend to drift in that particular area? Could it offer any clues about where he might have gone if he got separated from the others during the swim? Just thinking that understanding more about the currents might help shed new light on the possible areas he could have ended up. Anyone an expert on the local water conditions?

Does anyone else find it odd how calm the weather reports seemed that day? I did a bit of digging and while it wasn’t a storm, Lake Champlain is known for its sudden changes in conditions. But from what I can tell, there was no significant warning about the water being dangerous beforehand. So what caused the sailboat to capsize twice? Have any experienced sailors familiar with the area noticed anything unusual around Schuyler Island that could have caused surprise rough waters on that day in 1992? It's so unsettling to think such a sudden change could have contributed to Jefferson's disappearance. I wonder if that area has ever been notorious for tricky sailing conditions.
