I was reading about Carla Garth's case today, and I couldn't help but think about the impact her death must have had on her family, especially considering she left behind three sons and a grandson. Losing a mother at any age is unbelievably difficult, and I can't even begin to imagine the void it must have left in their lives. It's sad that there’s not much information out there, but I hope that the focus on her case doesn't get lost in the sheer number of homicides that occurred in Oakland at that time. Each of those victims had a story, a family, and dreams that were never realized. I really hope that as time passes, more resources will be dedicated to solving these cases, so that families like Carla's can find the closure they deserve.
