I was a ex bf of Stacey's we broke up about 6 months prior to his murder. The morning after the killing Cincinnati PD asked me to come down there (I lived in Dayton) for an interview. I'll never forget how passive aggressive and light weight hostile the cops were toward me and how dismissive they were about the murder. Because being gay in 1992 was not the same as being gay in 2026. The police had a suspect, the same person I believe killed Stacey IF he was killed by someone he knew, an ex of both of ours who had a history of violence. Stacey told me this person had came to his job once and sprayed him with mace (Stacey worked at a halfway house at the time). A scary older dude (he was 30 at the time Stacey was 25 I was 23) who had dated both of us at the same time unbeknownst to us. What's really chilling is this 30 year old con artist was also dating a third person a 19 year old named Chris who also died under mysterious circumstances a year later he "oded" while con artist was present. I have tried for years to get the Cincinnati PD to look into the case but (especially back then) they didn't seem very interested. The home on Wold was where Stacey stayed with his grandfather who is deceased. So many of our friends unfortunately are no longer with us who were around back then because gay black men tended to die of HIV in that cold cruel political climate.

The last time I contacted them was 2020. They never called me back.

Things that complicate the case: Stacey had a twin brother who was straight. We are not even sure the con artist name was his actual name. Being gay in 1992 did not afford one respect or humanity. Stacey had been known to pick up dudes on the street. No judgement we were young I have done similar I'll advised shenanigans. But it's an incredibly dangerous thing to do.

Theorys #1 Stacey was murdered by con artist ex. Con artist ex threatened all 3 of us (Chris, Stacey and myself) the 3 of us actually met up at my home around 91 Chris was trying to escape Con-artist and fled from Cincinnati to Dayton. We compared notes, realized we were all being played by the same older dude, we called him and confronted him and he threatened all three of us. Chris only being 19 unfortunately went back to con artist and tragically died in con artist presence in I believe 1994.

Theory #2 Stacey was killed by a stranger he picked up on the street. He had done that before. My only problem with that is I honestly don't think Stacey would bring a stranger to his grandfather's home. It's possible but I feel like he would have messed around in his car or a hotel. Now con artist dude absolutely had been to Staceys grandfather's home so this fits with the no evidence of breaking in however if it was a deranged hustler he bought home there also would be no evidence of a break in.

This has haunted me for decades. Stacey was an incredibly sweet and gentle soul. He was the most giving person. Even after we broke up he would do the sweetest things for me like getting my car fixed. He didn't smoke or drink like me and my friends and had a nervous tick of constantly brushing his hair. He was really attractive with beautiful eyes. I still miss his quirky soft-spoken energy. I feel like everyone in his life either gave up or have passed away but Stacey I never stopped fighting for you baby boy and I'll never stop missing you. Please if anyone knows anything let me know and I hope my information helps.

You are so kind to share this, and I’m so sorry for the loss you’ve carried all these years. Stacey sounds like he was deeply loved, and it matters that someone is still paying attention and fighting for answers.

Because this is still an unsolved homicide, I hope you’ll consider submitting everything you remember in writing again: the person’s name or aliases, descriptions, locations, dates, the mace incident at Stacey’s job, Chris’s full name if you know it, and anything about threats made to you, Stacey, or Chris. Even details that seem small could help if they connect to something already in the case file.

If anyone has firsthand information about Stacey Jordan, the Wold Avenue home, people he was seeing, the halfway house where he worked, or the person described in this post, please contact Cincinnati Police or submit a tip through the Ohio Attorney General’s cold case resources.

Stacey deserved care, dignity, and a real investigation in 1992. He still deserves justice now.

Hey everyone,
I've been reading through the threads, and I can't stop thinking about the fact that Stacey Jordan was just 25 when his life was brutally taken. It’s chilling to think how many milestones he might’ve missed. I grew up not far from Cincinnati, and I remember how this case was talked about back in the day. It's unsettling imagining someone who lived nearby might hold the key to solving this.
There were gossips around Wold Avenue back then about potential witnesses who were afraid to speak up. Keeping a tight-knit neighborhood quiet for so long seems unfathomable, but stranger things have happened, right? It's my hope someone finds the courage to come forward now, even if they think it’s minor. Piece by piece, justice can still be served. Let's keep Stacey’s family in our thoughts. They deserve answers and peace.
If anyone else recalls anything from those times that might seem relevant now, don’t hesitate to share. Every little bit helps.
Stay safe, everyone.

I've been following Stacey Jordan's case since I first heard about it, and my heart truly goes out to his family and friends. I can't even imagine living with the uncertainty for so many years. It got me thinking about the community's involvement or lack thereof. Does anyone know if there were any neighborhood watch programs or community initiatives around Wold Avenue at the time? Sometimes local efforts can provide crucial info just by citizens being more observant. Also, were there any other crimes in that area during early '92? It seems like residents might hold pieces of the puzzle without even realizing it. Stacey deserves justice, and his family deserves peace. If anyone has any info, no matter how small, I hope they find the courage to speak up.
Does anyone else find it strange that there was no sign of forced entry at Stacey Jordan's residence? The fact that he was found in the basement makes me wonder if he knew his killer and let them in willingly. It's been so long since this happened, and I feel for his family who still doesn't have answers. People aren't randomly targeted like this in such a personal way without some connection, right? It frustrates me that despite having this clue, we still don't have any suspects. I hope that anyone out there with any information, no matter how small it might seem, steps forward. His loved ones deserve to know the truth and have some form of peace.
