Has anyone else been curious about the weather conditions on April 8, 2005, the day Austin Childs and the others went missing? I’ve been researching old reports, and it seems like the sea was relatively calm that day, especially for the Gulf. Still, even slight inclement weather could complicate things if they hit something. I’m wondering if anyone local to the Freeport area at the time remembers anything specific about that day. Personal accounts sometimes provide details you can’t find in official reports. If any experienced fishermen or boaters have thoughts, it’d be interesting to hear what could cause a 28-foot pleasure boat to capsize so suddenly, especially with an animal onboard that might’ve been spooked. It's just haunting, thinking about what they might’ve encountered out there.
