Looking back at Avery Bryant Blakeley's case, does anyone else wonder about the possibility of the slipper being a red herring? If you think about it, toddlers can be pretty mobile and curious, and it wouldn't be impossible for the slipper to have been carried by the water downstream from where Avery might have first encountered it. The search was focused near Pine Creek after they found that slipper, but I keep thinking, what if he went in a different direction initially? Given that so much effort was concentrated around the water, maybe the focus should've also included more extensive land searches while keeping the water in mind. Small children can end up in unexpected places, and with the slipper being a vital clue but not definitive proof of his path, perhaps other areas should have been explored with equal intensity. Thoughts?
