Hey all, I’ve been reading up on the disappearance of Joel G. Thompson Jr., and something struck me that hasn't been talked about much in the threads: the condition of his fishing gear. Based on what I've read, both his fishing rod and tackle box were found intact on the jetty. For someone who's been fishing as long as Joel, wouldn't it be odd for all his gear to be just left there if he was planning to head off somewhere unexpected or if something nefarious happened?
It seems weird to me that there wasn't any sign of struggle or any of his stuff being disturbed. Could it mean he slipped into the water by accident, thinking he’d be right back to pick up his things? Or is there a possibility someone else was involved, ensuring that everything appeared normal at a glance? Just some thoughts running through my mind. Anyone else think this seems odd or have any other theories?
Hey everyone, I came across something intriguing while digging into the Joel Thompson disappearance. I noticed a few locals mentioned that on the night he went missing, other anglers mentioned unusual wave activity around the jetty. Could this have contributed to him being swept away, maybe more than usual? I know the ocean can be unpredictable, but it makes me wonder if that particular night was riskier than others. Did anyone here hear about this or have any insight into what the conditions might have been like? I'm curious if this was discussed back when it happened, as sea conditions often play a big role in these tragic events.
Hey everyone,
I've been following Joel G. Thompson Jr.'s case for a while now, and something that's really been on my mind is the timing of his disappearance. April can be such a tricky month weather-wise along the Delaware coast. Anyone familiar with the Indian River Inlet knows how unpredictable the currents are, especially when it coincides with the fluctuating weather patterns. Has anyone looked into the tidal charts or the weather conditions on that particular evening? It might seem like a small detail, but it could give some insight into the challenges Joel might've faced that night. Sometimes, understanding the environmental conditions can offer clues about what might have happened or why nobody has found anything more substantial after all these years. Just a thought—any input would be appreciated!
Thanks for reading and stay safe out there, especially if you're hitting the jetties!
