Has anyone else looked into the weather conditions on the night of October 3, 1973, when Barbara Jean Aleksivich went missing? I was going through some old newspaper archives and noticed there was an unusually heavy rainfall in Bath that evening. Might explain why she didn’t take her usual route home or why witnesses were scarce. Just speculating here, but it could have provided cover for someone with ill intentions. Maybe someone around Gansevoort and William Streets noticed an altercation but dismissed it due to the bad weather? If anyone has more info or thoughts on this angle, I'd love to discuss it further!
I recently started delving into the mysterious disappearance of Barbara Jean Aleksivich, and one thing that's been bugging me is the walk she made from the Bath Elks Club to her home. I mean, it's such a short distance, right? How could someone just vanish into thin air on such a familiar route?
I'm curious if anyone has more details about the area around Gansevoort and William Streets from back in '73. Was it well-lit or pretty deserted at night? Maybe some potential hiding spots? It's unsettling how she disappeared seemingly without a trace. Grateful for any insights or theories on what might've happened during those few minutes of her walk home.
I can't stop thinking about the circumstances surrounding Barbara Jean Aleksivich's disappearance. A detail that keeps sticking out to me is her choice to walk home that night. I understand it was a short distance between the Bath Elks Club and her house, but knowing the time period and the fact that it was late, could there have been a regular presence of people that might have seen her that evening? I mean, it was the 1970s, so it's not like there were surveillance cameras around, but there might have been regulars on the streets, or maybe some of the club's patrons or employees could remember seeing something? It’s frustrating because it seems like these small, seemingly mundane details might hold the key. We often hear how crucial witness statements can be, and even though decades have passed, someone might still have a piece of the puzzle without even realizing it. Here’s hoping that renewed attention or a fresh perspective brings something to light! Thoughts?
