I've been digging into Wayne Leroy Thompson's case a bit, and I keep coming back to the renewal of his truck’s registration in 1977. It just raises so many questions for me. If it was renewed by a family member, does that mean they thought he was still out there using the vehicle? Or was it just a procedural thing, like keeping it ready if he returned? It seems really significant that they'd go through the effort and expense to renew it. I wonder if anyone ever tried to use that registration renewal as a clue or lead in the investigation. Could it help track down where the truck went, or was it just a dead end?
