The trail leading to the strip mine where Linda's car was found has always puzzled me. The man's boot prints and Linda's bare footprints tell a disturbing story, but it's the location that's intriguing. Why the strip mine? Was it a place Surratt knew well, or was it just a convenient spot to dump the car? I’ve done some digging, and it appears that the truck stop where Linda worked was frequented by a lot of truckers and transient workers. Could there have been a connection there that investigators overlooked? Maybe she was seen with someone or confided in a coworker about something unsettling. I wonder if any of the truckers who stopped by were interviewed back in 1977 or if any of them recall seeing something unusual. It's frustrating that even a confession from Surratt hasn't provided the closure her family needs. Anyone here have theories on why the car ended up there specifically?
I've been combing through old news reports and it's baffling how little coverage Linda June Hamilton's disappearance got back in 1977. It's odd considering the shocking nature of the crime. I mean, a father dead, wife missing, and two young kids left alone. It seems like the type of case that should have drawn more media attention or public outcry. I wonder if local gossip or the community's attitude back then influenced the way the case was handled. Often smaller communities can have such insular approaches to these kind of tragedies. Would love to hear if anyone has insights or connections to Beaver Township from that era who might remember any local rumors or community responses.
