Hey everyone, I've been digging into John Daugherty's case and something really puzzles me about the timeline of events. It took two weeks for his roommate to report him missing, which seems like a long time. I wonder if this was just because it was the '80s and people thought it was normal for someone to be "off the grid" for that long? Or did his roommate think that John was just extending his camping trip? It just seems odd that he wasn’t reported missing sooner, especially going into a rugged area like the Shasta Costa Creek, which is known for difficult terrain and wildlife. Has anyone come across any information about why there was such a delay? Any insight would be appreciated!
Hey everyone, I've been following the John Daugherty case lately, and I keep circling back to the timing of the report. I find it so strange that his roommate waited two weeks to report him missing. I know that back in the '80s it was pretty common for people to be off the grid when camping, especially in a remote area like Shasta Costa Creek, but two weeks seems like such a long time to wait.
Did the roommate think it was normal for John to disappear for that long on his own? And why didn't John tell anyone else where he was going? Was it a regular thing for him to take off without saying much? I'm curious if anyone has any insights or similar cases where the delayed reporting made a difference in the investigation. Has anyone come across any more recent updates on the roommate's statements or behavior post-disappearance? Every little detail might help us connect the dots!
I've been following the John Daugherty case from Rogue River, and I find it particularly intriguing how the abandoned campsite was discovered by the timber crew over a year after he disappeared. What's been puzzling me is whether the timing of the discovery has any significance. It's interesting how the items were reportedly scattered by wildlife, yet I'm curious if there might have been any human activity initially overlooked. Could it be possible that someone else accessed his campsite before the bears? With the identification and camping gear found, it makes me wonder if something more deliberate happened before nature took its course. What do you all think about the possibility of something or someone else being involved, or am I just reading too much into it?
