I've been following Garrett Burton's case for a while now, and it just keeps haunting me how this has changed a family forever. One thing that really sticks with me is thinking about the role of George Burton, Garrett's father. As a police officer, he's dedicated his life to keeping people safe, and now he's living every parent's worst nightmare, searching for justice for his own son.

I was reading about Garrett Burton and was struck by what a promising young life was cut short. It’s terribly tragic to think of such a young soul, just 16, with passions in sports and music, being taken away over a prank gone wrong. My heart goes out to his family, especially his father, George, who has spent nearly 30 years upholding the law. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain of losing a child, and on top of that, knowing the person responsible is still out there. It must feel so isolating and frustrating at times, despite the community coming together for vigils and support.
