Joel Eric Meister, 46, was found dead at his South High Street home in Columbus, Ohio, on November 30, 2009. Authorities were called after he failed to pick up his mother for a scheduled appointment; police discovered his body late that Monday morning and classified the death as suspicious because rooms in the house were in disarray.

The investigation determined Meister died from blunt force trauma to his upper body. He had lived alone in the residence for five years. State investigators processed the scene and collected evidence, but no suspects were immediately identified and the case remains unsolved.

He was survived by his mother, Virginia Meister, and his longtime companion, Kelly White; an obituary noted a memorial service and asked for contributions to the Capital Area Humane Society. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to come forward.
