Hey everyone, I’ve been reading through the threads about Thompson and something just doesn't sit right with me regarding his reported plans before he went missing. Has anyone else found it odd that he called his father from St. Louis? If his plan was to start on the Pacific Crest Trail in the Portland area, why start his journey so far east? I mean, it could make sense if he was visiting friends or buying equipment not available elsewhere, but St. Louis seems a bit out of the way for someone who's preparing for a west coast hiking trip. I wonder if this detail could hint at some other plans or reasons for his travels that might not have been disclosed. What does everyone else think? Could this be a lead the investigators might have overlooked?
Does anyone have more information on the types of hiking supplies Thompson might have been purchasing in St. Louis? It's puzzling given that he planned on starting his hike near Portland, Oregon. Were there specific items he could only find in St. Louis, or was it just a convenient stop? I'm trying to piece together whether this was part of his planned journey or if something else was going on. I wonder if he had planned to meet someone in St. Louis who might have information but just never came forward. The timing of his phone call just seems oddly specific for a pit stop when he had such a long journey ahead on the Pacific Crest Trail. Thoughts?
Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about Thompson's last known whereabouts and something that's been on my mind is that phone call he had with his dad. Does anyone else find it odd that he specifically mentioned shopping for hiking supplies in St. Louis before heading out to the Pacific Crest Trail? I mean, it kind of makes sense that he'd stock up on gear before such a big trip, but wouldn't it have been more practical to do so closer to his starting point in Portland?
It's almost like there's a gap in the timeline that doesn't quite add up. Did they check the stores he mentioned or trace any transactions from that time? Maybe there was someone he crossed paths with who could have caught some detail that investigators missed. It could be a long shot, but you never know. Has anyone come across anything suggesting he actually did purchase gear in St. Louis?
Just trying to piece together this puzzle, even though it's been so long...
