I find the circumstances of John's disappearance really puzzling. One thing that stands out to me is the bloodhounds losing his scent at the mailbox—it's like he just vanished into thin air. Considering he left behind essentials like his eyeglasses and bicycle, it's hard to believe he left on his own accord, at least not without planning. Could someone have picked him up from there? The fact that his medication for depression was left behind makes it even more concerning. It's so frustrating to think how a seemingly small detail, like the scent stopping at the mailbox, could be a huge clue or a frustrating dead-end. Maybe there's something about that missing segment between the back door and mailbox that we're not seeing. Does anyone else have thoughts on why his scent ended there?
