I’ve been following the case of Gerald Videl Holland Jr., and it's just so difficult to wrap my head around the randomness of it all. I keep thinking about his cousin, George Garrett, and how he mentioned that this tragedy made him reflect on his own choices. It's just so stark to see how one moment can entirely change the trajectory of so many lives. This wave of violence, especially involving young people with firearms, is deeply concerning. How are we supposed to tackle this issue when it feels like it's getting worse with every passing day? It's almost like we're losing touch with the essence of community and understanding, and the void left by lives like Gerald’s reminds us of that. To those who knew "Man-Man," my heart goes out to you. Leaning on each other during this tough time seems to bring some comfort, but I can only imagine how heavy the grief must be for everyone involved. It’s moments like these that make me hope for meaningful change so that youth in Columbus—and everywhere else—can have the chance to live out their dreams without fear.
