It's been over a decade since Albert Steele and Javon McGinnis were tragically taken, and I still can’t shake the thought of how their loss affected the neighborhood. I remember reading how their community gathered at Thornwood Commons to support one another in the aftermath. It’s a testament to their resilience but also highlights the anxiety and fear that lingered.
I've read about how Javon’s dad, Ernest Sowell, has been relentless in his pursuit of justice for his son. I can't imagine the strength it takes to keep pushing forward after such a devastating loss. The fact that the investigation is still open makes me question if more transparency or resources are needed in unresolved cases like this.
If anyone lived near the area or attended any of those community gatherings back then, did you notice any immediate changes in the local atmosphere? I hope we can find ways to support families like the Steeles and McGinnises, and maybe share ideas on how communities can better safeguard themselves and work with law enforcement. This case just shouldn't fade into the background; Albert and Javon deserve justice.
Did anyone else hear about the candlelight vigil held last week for Albert and Javon? I couldn't make it, but a friend said it was a powerful moment seeing so many people come together to honor their memories. It's clear that this community wants justice and change. It’s been over a year, and the fear is still palpable every time I walk down Olmstead and Roselle Avenues. I can't imagine what the families must be going through, especially with no answers yet. If anyone hears about any new leads or upcoming community events, please share. Residents deserve to feel safe, and these boys deserve justice. ??
