Tyrese Beatty, known as Reese, was 27 when he was last seen on December 13, 2006, near 42nd Street and Parkside Avenue in Philadelphia. He is described as a Black male, 5 feet 4 inches tall, about 130 pounds, with short black hair, a mustache, and brown eyes. At the time he was wearing dark jeans, a black jacket with red and white stripes across the arms and back, a baseball cap, black sweatpants, and dark-colored sneakers. He has a scar on one arm and tattoos of a tiger and a boomerang on his upper left arm and a moon on his upper right arm.
Tyrese had a diagnosis of schizophrenia and a history of wandering; family members had previously found him when he went missing. A family acquaintance reported seeing three people pin Tyrese against a wall and choke him before he disappeared, and that account has haunted the family. Searches of shelters, hospitals and an abandoned building using cadaver dogs produced no trace, and other tips over the years have placed him in various parts of the city appearing disoriented. Months before his disappearance he had been sworn into the U.S. Navy.
Anyone who knew Tyrese, saw him near 42nd and Parkside on or after December 13, 2006, or has information about the people the family describes is asked to come forward.
