I was driving through Colorado last summer and decided to stop by Mesa Verde for a few days of hiking. I’m familiar with the terrain and it’s quite rugged in areas, especially around the Petroglyph Point Trail. That part can be tricky, especially for someone who might have a cognitive impairment like Mr. Irwin. I remember some sections being narrow with loose rocks, and you definitely need your wits about you to navigate certain spots safely. What concerns me is the phone being found on that trail. If Mr. Irwin completed it, it makes me wonder if he possibly dropped it on his way back. With the weather changes and wildlife in the area, I hope they’re checking the more secluded sections, maybe even beyond where casual hikers normally go. Maybe someone has already mentioned it, but do they typically track the weather conditions there after someone goes missing? Weather or other hikers can obscure tracks pretty quickly on those trails. It seems crucial to get to them fast. My thoughts are with the search teams and his family right now. Let's hope for any developing news soon.
