I've been reading up on Steven Lee Smith's case, and something that's been puzzling me is the location where Wesley Elliott Kelly claimed he disposed of Steven. The Wabash River has been searched extensively, but from what I gather, it's a pretty tricky area to search thoroughly. Currents, seasonal changes, and debris could all affect where someone ends up in a river that size, right?
I wonder if perhaps the searches need to be conducted further down the river or maybe during a different season when water levels are lower and visibility might be better. Does anyone know if there have been sections of the river that haven't been searched yet, or if there are plans to tackle those areas anytime soon? It seems so tragic that Kelly was convicted, yet Steven's family still doesn't have closure. Thoughts?
Does anyone else think there might be more to the story about Steven Lee Smith’s personal items missing from his apartment? It’s strange that so many of his things were gone. I know Wesley Elliott Kelly confessed, but what if someone else had a hand in this? Maybe something valuable was among those items, or they were removed to make it look like Steven left on his own. It's odd that Wesley didn't mention anything about taking Steven's belongings. Anyone have insights or theories on this part of the case? It just feels like another piece of the puzzle that hasn't been looked into closely enough.
Has anyone else wondered about the significance of Steven's apartment being unusually clean when he went missing? I mean, it seems a bit odd for someone to make sure the place is in order if they're not planning on disappearing voluntarily. It's one of those details that just doesn’t sit right with me. Could it have been just an attempt to remove evidence, considering Wesley Kelly's later confession? But then, wouldn’t there be more obvious signs of a struggle? It's puzzling to me, and I can’t help but think there might be some clues that were overlooked initially. Thoughts?
