I've been following Miriah Qualls' case for awhile now, and one aspect that really stands out to me is her move from San Jose to San Francisco. It's tragic to think that she was looking for a supportive community, a place to truly be herself, and instead met such a violent end. It breaks my heart to imagine her in those final days feeling alone or scared. The fact that her case hasn't been solved makes it even more frustrating, especially considering the potential suspect hasn't been brought to justice. The challenges faced by transgender individuals like Miriah, especially when they're also struggling with housing and substance use, are immense. This case isn’t just about getting justice for Miriah but also highlighting how society needs to better support vulnerable members of the LGBTQ+ community. I really hope that one day soon, someone comes forward with the vital information needed to bring Miriah’s killer to justice. Her family deserves at least that much peace.
