I was researching unsolved cases in San Francisco, and Carly McFarland’s situation really got to me. I feel for her family and what they must be going through, especially with so little information coming out. It's baffling how there were no leads, even though it was only early evening when it happened. I wanted to discuss something I came across about why there might be such a lack of witness testimony. I've read that in areas with higher crime rates, like Bayview, there's a real fear of speaking out because of possible retaliation. It’s so sad that this fear keeps justice from happening. I wonder if there could be more community support networks or protection programs to encourage people who know something to feel safe about coming forward. I just keep thinking that someone, somewhere, must know something. Every day that passes feels like more time stolen from Carly and those who loved her. If only there was more we could do to break through the silence and get justice for her.
